
Theater Classes
Our theater classes provide an introduction to the world of live performance. These classes typically cover a wide range of topics, including acting techniques, stagecraft, theatre history, and play analysis. Students may explore improvisation, character development, movement, voice work, and even design aspects like costumes and lighting.
Performing Arts Academy
Open to ages 5-7 years old. Kids will learn basic acting strategies through games, create props and costumes, and prepare a show. Great for creative thinking, self-expression, and working with others. Performance will be held on last day.

Acting 1: Monologues & Technique
Open to ages 11-18 years old. This class is for teens both with and without experience, to learn the basics of acting techniques and workshop and perform monologues. This session is perfect to prepare for auditions, learn and strengthen skills, and build confidence.

Acting 2: Improv & Scene Work
Open to ages 11-18 years old. This acting class is for those with previous acting experience. Students will explore partner work, expand their improvisational skills, and prepare for future performing opportunities.

Young Thespians Workshop
Open to ages 8-10 years old. Start creating more storytelling through emotion and play. This class focuses on learning the basics of acting strategies through games, creating props and costumes, and preparing a show for friends and family to perform during our last class! Our students learn forms of creative thinking, self-expression, and working with others while experiencing the magic of performing.

Adult Improv
Open to ages 18 years and older. This class focuses on learning and expanding on improvisational skills for adults of all backgrounds with no experience needed. Students will learn improv technique, ensemble work, scene structure, and put those skills to use in both life and performance.

Prop Shop Class
Open to ages 11 years and older. Learn what happens behind the scenes! This class will give students the opportunity to get hands-on experience in technical theater and production design. Students will help design and work on props, costumes, scenery, and be on stage crew for our main stage production in December.

ELC Student Theater Classes
As a student of the Pennie Z. Davis Early Learning Center (ELC), your child has the opportunity to take classes offered through the JCC Performing Arts department. These classes are a great preparatory program that aids in the development of your child’s creativity, confidence, and expression.
ELC Class: Intro to Performing Arts & Expression
Open to ages 3 years old. Students will learn the basics of performing arts and expression through games, music, and dance. The focus of this class is to build a love for the arts, encourage creativity and imagination, build confidence, and explore several areas of the performing arts. Register for class code 18-193.

ELC Class: Jr. Performing Arts Academy
Open to ages 4 years old. Welcome to the world of theater! This class focuses on storytelling, creative thinking & expression, and learning the basics of theater. Students will learn acting games, different ways to tell a story, movement, and finding their voice. This class is perfect for little ones to develop their skills for future performing arts classes. Register for class code 18-194.
