The Dance Department of the Jewish Community Center strives to impart the joy and discipline of dance through a well-rounded program of high caliber dance instruction.  Classes in pre-ballet, ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop and modern dance are offered in a variety of levels with emphasis on technique, musicality, body awareness and the development of self-expression through movement.

Classes are taught in a caring, positive atmosphere by a faculty of qualified, experienced instructors. Limited class enrollment ensures individual personalized attention.  The JCC houses one of the finest dance facilities in the area with fully equipped studios, a 350-seat theatre and live piano accompaniment for ballet classes. In addition to classes, students may participate in a variety of special programs: choreographic workshops and performance opportunities with local and nationally recognized artists, field trips to area dance events, dance films and special lectures.

The dance program is open to JCC members and non-members. JCC members receive discounted rates and other benefits. If you’d like to join the JCC, please contact the Member Services Director at 334-6552.

Dance Camp at the J!

This summer we are offering two 4-day camps for kids 5-8 years old and 9-12 years old. The days will include dance class, watching a movie (from a given ballet), art projects, swimming and snack.

Each week is geared around the Ballet of the week. We watch the video from the ballet, trying to learn some of it's unique choreography, and our art project will also be themed around the same Ballet.

Along with Dance camps, we will also hold regular dance classes in two 4-week long sessions, to keep up the technique that the students have worked so hard on, all year long. These classes are also good for those who might want to try a new form of dance. The short session gives students the opportunity to know if it's something they'd like to pursue in the Fall.
